Indian cinema made a strong mark at CinemaCon 2026 as Ramayana, one of the most anticipated films of the coming year, was showcased on the global stage. Producer Namit Malhotra and actor Yash were seen representing the ambitious mythological epic at the prestigious event, further boosting excitement around the film’s worldwide release plans. Helmed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is being mounted as a two-part cinematic franchise backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with the 8-time Oscar-winning VFX powerhouse DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations.
The film is already being discussed as one of the biggest Indian cinematic ventures in recent times, with large-scale production values and global ambitions. Sharing moments from CinemaCon 2026, the makers posted on social media, “At CinemaCon, continuing the journey of #Ramayana”. The update quickly drew attention online, with fans celebrating the film’s presence alongside major international releases at the convention.

With its CinemaCon presence, the makers appear to be positioning Ramayana as a global theatrical event. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film boasts a star-studded cast led by Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita.
Yash will be seen playing King Ravana, while Sunny Deol takes on the role of Lord Hanuman. Ravie Dubey has been cast as Lakshman. The ensemble also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Kunal Kapoor and several others in key roles.
With such an expansive lineup, the project has become one of the most talked-about upcoming Hindi releases. Industry watchers are particularly keen to see how the makers reinterpret one of India’s most revered epics for modern audiences while retaining its emotional and spiritual core. Ramayana will release in IMAX across the world, with Part 1 slated for Diwali 2026 and Part 2 arriving in Diwali 2027.
