Catcher Jose Trevino will start a rehab assignment with the Dayton Dragons on Friday, April 24, the Cincinnati Reds announced.According to the Reds website, Trevino is expected to play five innings Friday when the Dragons play the South Bend Cubs at 7 p.m. at Day Air Ballpark.Trevino has been on the injured list with a thoracic spine strain since April 8. He has not appeared in a game since April 4. He’s 1-for-11 in three appearances.Trevino started two of the first five games with Tyler Stephenson starting the other three games.

Since Trevino’s injury, Stephenson has earned the majority of the starts, while P.J. Higgins, who started the season at Triple-A Louisville, has started five games.Another Red, starting pitcher Nick Lodolo, is expected to throw four innings Sunday against South Bend in a 1:05 p.m. game in Dayton. Lodolo has been on the injured list all season because of blister issues on his left index finger.
