(Photo by Liverpool FC/Liverpool FC via Getty Images) | Liverpool FC via Getty Images Juventus appear to be in the market for a new starting goalkeeper, and they are looking to find somebody with whom manager Luciano Spalletti will feel rather comfortable with. You know, the kind of player of which can both get the job done between the sticks and also give Spalletti — who has recently signed on to a two-year contract extension — something that the club lacks in the form of veteran, title-winning players. So why not a goalkeeper that Spalletti has alreay worked with before in Serie A?That would be the uber-handsome Alisson Becker of Liverpool, who have been one of the handful of goalkeepers linked to Juventus in recent weeks as it becomes clear that the club is in the process of finding a new starter in goal amidst Michele Di Gregorio’s turbulent season.
The fact that Juve have interest in Alisson has gone back a few weeks, but on Wednesday we got a new development: the 33-year-old Brazilian has essentially given his stamp of approval over a potential move to Juventus this coming summer, according to SportItalia’s Alfredo Pedulla. The report goes so far to say that Alisson has already agreed to a two-year contract that may have an option for a third season with Juventus, and that discussions with Liverpool will continue over the next few weeks to try and find some sort of solution. It would be the first major sign of Juventus’ intent for the summertime while also seeing Spalletti reunite with Alisson after the two were together at Roma in the late 2010s prior to the latter’s move to Merseyside in the summer of 2018.Esclusiva: #Juventus, scatto per #Alisson. È la prima scelta e c’è il sì del portiere— Alfredo Pedullà (@AlfredoPedulla) April 22, 2026Alisson just recently saw a clause in his contract kick into effect and be extended for another season through 2027.
How much that potentially complicates things remains to be seen, but it’s another added element to this if Juve are indeed pushing to try and bring Alisson to Turin this summer.Spalletti reportedly wants a goalkeeper with much more experience than Di Gregorio, and one that is also just a better player overall. While other goalkeepers have been linked to Juventus and might be more of long-term options, Alisson would give Juventus the kind of veteran presence at the position that they haven’t had the last couple of years since Wojciech Szczesny left to make way for Di Gregorio.Since moving to Liverpool in what is still one of the most expensive deals for a goalkeeper in history, Alisson has racked up over 250 appearances.
He has won the Premier League twice in 2019-20 and 2024-25 as well as the Champions League in 2018-19.Not bad for a guy that Spalletti helped launch during their time at Roma. Also, following a quick Google search about Alisson and Juventus, I came across this article that we wrote in the winter of 2015. Don’t remember it at all! Don’t remember this one, either!
Can you imagine if that actually happened and Alisson was at Juventus a decade ago — especially knowing the goalkeeper he developed into? Holy smokes. Instead of a keeper approaching his mid-30s, Juve could have gotten a soon-to-be world-class player instead of him going to Roma. But hey, Spalletti knows him well because of that, and it’s pretty clear this is a move that Juventus’ manager very much supports because of that past together in the Italian capital.
