Ryle High School has tagged the next leader of the athletics program.The school announced Josh Furtado as its next athletic director in an April 22 post on X. Furtado, a 2022 Ryle graduate, is currently a pitcher for the Morehead State University baseball team. Furtado has held a variety of roles in and around athletics and is studying business management at Morehead State.Furtado began his collegiate athletics career at Transylvania University before transferring to Morehead State as a sophomore. In 11.1 innings pitched in the 2026 season, Furtado has recorded 13 strikeouts.
Known as a friendly and outgoing person, Furtado said he considers it more than just a personality trait in a statement to Morehead State."I think the reason I try to be outgoing is my way of expressing gratitude for being in the position I'm in," Furtado said in the release.
