Texas A&M women’s tennis has quietly built one of the most dominant dynasties in college athletics. Five straight SEC regular‑season titles, an SEC Tournament crown, a national championship, and a near‑permanent home inside the top five have defined the program’s recent run. At the center of that rise over the last three seasons has been junior standout Lucciana Perez. On Wednesday, the Peru native added another historic milestone to her résumé, being named SEC Player of the Year after completing an undefeated regular season in singles play.
She becomes just the second Aggie to earn the honor, joining former teammate and program great Mary Stoiana, who won the award in 2023 and 2024.Perez delivered a flawless 13–0 singles record and shattered the school mark with 32 consecutive regular‑season victories. Her postseason impact continued as she earned a spot on the SEC All‑Tournament Team, further cementing her status as one of the nation’s most reliable closers. Her dominance extends beyond conference play. Perez currently holds the No. 1 national singles ranking with a commanding 76.65 points, separating herself from the rest of the collegiate field.
She’s also been a force in doubles, pairing with Mia Kupres to earn a No. 11 national ranking. For a program already operating at an elite level, Perez has become the engine of a championship machine—one that shows no signs of slowing down.Your SEC Player of the Year 👑Perez went 13-0 in regular season league play to stretch her school record of consecutive SEC regular season wins to 32 👍More → https://t.co/WUxd6S5XGe#GigEm // #AggieWTpic.twitter.com/TQjOwwHFdg— Texas A&M Women's Tennis (@AggieWTEN) April 22, 2026Contact/Follow us @AggiesWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of Texas A&M news, notes and opinions.
