The entertainment offered by Hollywood is often split into various genres, with some having more entries than others. Crime thrillers, action, romance, and horror, for instance, all see several additions each year. However, the same can't be said for the cyberpunk genre.
Movies within this space are sparse, with Blade Runnerand its follow-up, Blade Runner 2049, being the most defining projects within the niche genre. Cyberpunk has enjoyed success, but perhaps not as much as enthusiasts might have hoped. This is clearly evident in how things played out for arguably the best film in the cyberpunk-action crossover genre.
