Washing fruits under tap water may not remove all pesticide residues, as they are designed to be rain-fast and adhere to natural fruit waxes. Integrated pesticides within the fruit's cuticle are particularly difficult to dislodge. Instead of soap, which can be absorbed, vigorous rubbing with running water or using a produce brush for firmer fruits is recommended for effective cleaning.
