As we previously wrote about, it was a disastrous weekend for USC baseball. The Trojans traveled on the road to Nebraska and suffered a brutal sweep that caused them to drop in both the Big Ten standings and the national rankings. After getting swept, Andy Stankiewicz’s team suddenly found itself having lost eight of 11 games. On Tuesday night, the Trojans traveled down to Cal State Fullerton for a nonconference game that they desperately needed to win.Fortunately, USC came through.

The Trojans scored four runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, cruising to an 8-2 victory. It ended a streak of eight consecutive road losses for USC, whose prior win away from Dedeaux Field had come more than three weeks prior. The good news for the Trojans is that they are a much better team at home, where they have still lost just once all season. This weekend, Stankiewicz and company will look to build up some momentum back at Dedeaux Field when Purdue comes to town for a three-game series. This article originally appeared on Trojans Wire: USC baseball bounces back, defeats Cal State Fullerton
