An initial auction will include combinations including ‘PORSCHE’ and ‘1234567’, as seven-character number plates arrive in Victoria. Seven-character number plates are now available in Victoria, but the first to get them will need to outbid all opponents. In addition to an initial auction of 11 “prestige” combinations, there is an option to bid for the opportunity to have first dibs on any available, and approvable, seven-character combination.
Customisable seven-character plates are expected to be released to the general public in future, with the addition of an extra character over the current limitation of six allowing buyers of personalised number plates to create longer words and number combinations. The seven-character combinations initially being auctioned off are MCLAREN, PORSCHE, FERRARI, 1234567, 6666666, 7654321, XXXXXXX, 9999999, 8888888, 111111, and AAAAAAA. Winning bidders can choose to restyle their plate into any prestige plate colour option, which, in addition to standard black, currently includes brown, green, blue, pink, and red.
