We should have known when Dominick Cruz touted every fight on the card as being incredible at the start of the broadcast that things would go sideways. We had John Gooden over from England to do play-by-play when nine times out of 10, it would be Brendan Fitzgerald for a “Sin City” Fight Night. And then there was Bruce Buffer in the cage instead of Joe Martinez, which also was far from typical for an ordinary Fight Night show.
If there seemed to be strange vibes, maybe it wasn’t an accident. UFC Fight Night 274 tied a new company record with 11 decisions in 13 fights, including five straight to close out the main card. The event at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas had just two finishes – both of which earned $100,000 post-fight bonuses.
Prior to Saturday, UFC 263 nearly five years ago had the record with 11 decisions, also across 13 fights.
