Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Burhan Ali, the Secretary of the Kurdistan Men’s Union, has revealed shocking statistics regarding violence against men within the region. During the period from January to mid-April 2026, the union recorded 186 formal complaints of violence, along with 27 suicides and 6 murders linked to domestic disputes. Furthermore, these figures highlight a disturbing upward trend in social instability compared to previous years.

The data suggests that men in the Kurdistan region are facing unprecedented psychological and physical pressures within the family unit. In light of these findings, experts point to the ongoing economic crisis and delayed salary payments as primary drivers of domestic tension. These financial hardships have stripped many heads of households of their stability, leading to heightened conflict at home.

Adding to the complexity, the rise of social media and modern technology has fundamentally altered traditional family dynamics. Experts argue that digital platforms increase daily friction and expose private marital disagreements to outside interference.
