He has long arms at 34 1/4 and a wingspan of 83 7/8.Ryan Fowler offered his evaluation on Josephs: "First thing that jumps off the screen with Josh Josephs is his explosiveness at 6’3”, 243. Then you see the speed-to-power with an understanding of how to use his elite length (34 1/4 arm). There’s an evident rush plan.

DPR right away on the 3rd with the potential for more as he improves on run downs. With their 5th round pick (147 overall), the Commanders just drafted Tennessee Edge Joshua Josephs🏈 6-3, 242 lbs🏈 All 4 years with Volunteers 🏈 2025: 6 TFL's and 4 sacks last year 🏈 Career: 21 TFLs, 9.5 sacks in college 🏈 Very long; 85th percentile reach pic.twitter.com/Miu9N395Pm— Grant Paulsen (@GrantPaulsen) April 25, 2026NFL Draft Anaylst Lance Zierlein produced his summary on Josephs:Long, upright edge defender with an NBA-caliber wingspan and room to continue filling out his frame. Josephs uses his arms to stay separated from blocks and spill runs wide.

However, he needs to get bigger and stronger to better support the run against NFL blocking. He has long strides and plus closing burst to chase and capture. His pass rush is the same on every snap, showing good burst and effort but a predictable track that is slowed by force.

He’s not a natural bender, so adding go-to moves, a functional inside counter and better rush plans will be essential. With added weight and continued schooling, Josephs could deliver much more consistent production than he’s provided so far. This article originally appeared on Commanders Wire: Washington Commanders: Who is Joshua Josephs?
